For the very first time, we own a garden! No more heartbreaking farewells to
loved and pampered gardens attached to rented property. Now, we finally can
plan ahead and think of future harvests. A dream comes true.
Our plot of land is attached to a summerhouse and situated in Denmark (Nord Sjaelland), a northern temperate maritime climate with rather short summers and cold winters. We would like to create a very biodiverse garden with a mature eco-system, friendly for wildlife and nature, with a diverse food harvest for us, humans. Getting inspiration from eco-friendly gardening, companion planting, recycling all "waste" on the spot, permaculture techniques (like food forests, hugelculture, mulch techniques, etc), and adding a lot of wild flowers for bees, butterflies and beneficial insects, we look very much forward to the exciting journey. We will need to make some compromises with the existing layout and plants and with our big extended family using our summerhouse, but I am sure we will turn it into a lovely spot for all.
We would love to get your feedback, share our good and bad experiences, and learn from these to find the right balance in our cherished garden.
